Explosives factory

From Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic Official Wiki

Background

An explosives factory makes explosives. Explosives are chemicals compounds, mixtures or devices that will detonate or deflagrate when supplied with sufficient initiating energy. Explosives are used extensively in underground mining and surface hard rock quarrying operations. They are also used frequently in the construction industry for the development of new roads, excavation of ground for the foundations of buildings or basement areas and in demolition work.

Explosive demolitions consist of using controlled explosives by placing small explosive charges (generally less than 50 g), which are usually placed in the structural elements that are to be demolished and confined to drillings made for this purpose. After this placement the charges are detonated through an initiation system. The explosive charges present in the vertical elements detonate, causing a “structural vacuum” called a demolition belt, within which through gravity the structure collapses, fragmenting due to its own weight, or, when appropriate, enabling it to fall on one side, enabling easier access to the debris which can then be taken apart using traditional methods.

Gameplay

In Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic the player can demolish buildings with help of explosives. The Explosives can be imported from the customs house, but in a self-sustaining republic, the player produces the explosives himself. The player needs to place the explosives factory and provide it with then necessary resources.

Production

For the production of explosives the player needs to provide resources like Chemicals and Gravel to the factory. The factory also has manual jobs, so workers are also needed for producing explosives.

Depending on the game settings the factory consumes and produces resources:

Storage

There are two raw resource flows through the factory. One for the import of raw materials and one for the export of manufactured goods. The internal storages capacity of the factory, for the raw materials and produced goods, is limited. The storage capacity can be increased by adding external storages for the storage of Chemicals and Explosives in warehouse buildings. The external storages are connected via Factory connections.

Transportation

The raw resources must be delivered at the explosives factory or at a connected external storage. The produced goods can be picked up from the factory or from an external storage. The transportation of Explosives must be carried out by using covered-hull trucks, trains using boxcars cargo wagons, or by forklifts.
