UF6

From Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic Official Wiki

UF6 or UF6[1] is a resource used for manufacturing nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.

Background

Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) is a chemical compound consisting of one atom of uranium combined with six atoms of fluorine. It is the chemical form of uranium that is used during the uranium enrichment process. Within a reasonable range of temperature and pressure, it can be a solid, liquid, or gas. Solid UF6 is a white, dense, crystalline material that resembles rock salt.

Uranium hexafluoride does not react with oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, or dry air, but it does react with water or water vapor. For this reason, UF6 is always handled in leak tight containers and processing equipment. When UF6 comes into contact with water, such as water vapor in the air, the UF6 and water react, forming corrosive hydrogen fluoride (HF) and a uranium-fluoride compound called uranyl fluoride (UO2F2).

Gameplay

Uranium oxide and chemicals are delivered to a uranium conversion plant,

Production

UF6 resource flow chart

To produce UF6, uranium oxide and chemicals must be delivered to a uranium conversion plant, where they are manufactured into UF6. The conversion rate is 2.0t uranium oxide and 0.21t chemicals for 0.96t UF6. The maximum production is 0.96t UF6.

Storage

UF6 can only be stored containers in a radiation protected containers at uranium conversion plants, nuclear fuel fabrication buildings, or vehicle/container storages.

Transportation

UF6 containers can be transported by using open-hull trucks, trains using open-hull cargo wagons, or by forklifts.

Uses

UF6 is used to manufacture nuclear fuel in a nuclear fuel fabrication building.

Notes

  1. This resource is referred to as both UF6 and UF6 in this article, these are both referring to uranium hexafluoride, but the subscript is not present in-game.
