Alcohol is a resource in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.

Background

The alcohol in drinks is called ethanol (ethyl alcohol). It is made when yeast ferments the sugars in grains, fruits and vegetables. For example, wine is made from the sugar in grapes and vodka is made from the sugar in potatoes.

Alcohol can be compared to drugs. Like drugs, alcohol affects the way the body works. It can also be toxic and addictive. Drinking a small amount of alcohol can make somebody feel more relaxed or happy, but alcohol is actually a depressant. This means it:

  • slows down the messages that travel between the brain and the body
  • affects the way somebody think, feel and behave.

To reduce the effects of alcohol, it’s important to be aware of how much you’re drinking.

Gameplay

Alcohol can increase the happiness of citizens, but the player should be aware that citizens can develop an addiction to alcohol, thus impacting the health system in the player's republic.

Alcohol is an interesting resource to export early game, when importing crops from the customs house. This approach creates jobs, Alcohol for use in the republic and when exporting, it generates revenue to the republic.
