Distillery

From Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic Official Wiki

Background

A distillery makes hard alcohol like whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, etc. The process of making distilled spirits starts off much of the same as making beer. The process starts by combining some basic ingredients such as grains, yeast & water. The recipe for each product varies of course. The grains breakdown and convert the starches to sugars. With the help of the yeast and enzymes the sugar is converted into alcohol. Once the yeast and sugar has done their jobs we drain off the spent grains. We take the remaining liquid and pour it into the still. Alcohol's boiling point is lower than water so it vaporizes first. It is then condensing by cooling the vapor, and collecting the resulting liquid commonly known as alcohol.

Gameplay

In Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic the player can provide alcohol to the citizens. Providing alcohol has a big impact on citizens Happiness in a positive way but also as a downside: Alcohol addiction. Citizens with an alcohol addiction have poorer health and are more dependent on health care in the players' republic, they have to go to the doctor more than often.

Alcohol is distilled from Crops in a distillery, a building which the player needs to build and provide it with the necessary resources. The crops can be imported from the customs house, but in a self-sustaining republic, the player produces the crops himself. Crops grow on fields and are harvested, fertilized, stored in a grain silo and transported to the food factory.

The produced alcohol needs to be distributed to Pubs, Cafes and Restaurants and sold to citizens. Another option with alcohol is to export it and thereby contribute to the players' self-sufficient republic.

Production

For the production of alcohol the player needs to provide resources like Crops to the factory. The factory also has manual jobs, so workers are also needed for producing alcohol.

Depending on the Game settings the player needs to take care of provisioning water and taking care of wastewater and/or maintenance.

Storage

There are two raw resource flows through the factory. One for the import of raw materials and one for the export of manufactured goods. The internal storages capacity of the factory, for the raw materials and produced goods, is limited. The storage capacity can be increased by adding external storages for the storage of Crops in warehouse buildings. The external storages are connected via Factory connections.

Transportation

The raw resources must be delivered at the distillery factory or at a connected external storage. The produced goods can be picked up from the factory or from an external storage. The transportation of alcohol must be carried out by using covered-hull trucks, trains using boxcars cargo wagons, or by forklifts.

Uses

Main article: Farming

Farms and fields are used for the production of crops.

Notes

  • Alcohol increases happiness, but an alcohol addiction is lurking, causing the worker's health to decline, so the workers have to go to the doctor more than often.
