The TV station is a building in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic from which the player has influence on the happiness of citizens.

Background

A television station is a type of terrestrial station that broadcasts both audio and video to television receivers in a particular area. Traditionally, TV stations made their broadcasts by sending specially-encoded radio signals over the air, called terrestrial television. Individual television stations are usually granted licenses by a government agency to use a particular section of the radio spectrum (a channel) through which they send their signals. Some stations use LPTV broadcast translators to retransmit to further areas.

Gameplay

The TV station offers in total 190 jobs for workers. The TV station broadcasts TV programs that cater to the player's need to influence the citizens. The player can bring broadcast programs to influence cultural enjoyment and/or Soviet propaganda. In total the player has six ways to influence citizens:

  • Cultural enjoyment - to influence culture
  • Educational strength - to influence Education
  • Soviet propaganda - to influence loyalty
  • Preference for alcohol - to influence health
  • Enthusiasm for sport - to influence sport
  • Anti-religious propagande - to influence religion

You configure each preference from the TV station by increasing or decreasing the corresponding percentage:

In the TV station are two type of workers: staff and actors/moderators, staff can be a worker with any kind of educational skill while actors/moderators must have a higher educational level

Influences

Placing a TV station can have the following effects to the game depending on the settings of the TV station:

  • An effect on the citizens cultural enjoyment preference.
  • An effect on the citizens Educational strength.
  • An effect on the citizens loyalty preference.
  • An effect on the citizens alcohol consumption to influence health.
  • An effect on enthusiasm for sport.
  • An effect on Anti-religious propagande to influence religion.

  • Advised to build this building late in the game, to boost loyalty for instance.
