Food factory

(Redirected from Food Factory)

Background

Food processing is the transformation of agricultural products into food, or of one form of food into other forms. Food processing includes many forms of processing foods, from grinding grain to make raw flour to home cooking to complex industrial methods used to make convenience foods. Some food processing methods play important roles in reducing food waste and improving food preservation, thus reducing the total environmental impact of agriculture and improving food security.

Primary food processing is necessary to make most foods edible, and secondary food processing turns the ingredients into familiar foods, such as bread. Tertiary food processing has been criticized for promoting overnutrition and obesity, containing too much sugar and salt, too little fiber, and otherwise being unhealthful in respect to dietary needs of humans and farm animals.

Gameplay

To keep citizens satiated the player must take care of providing Food. In Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic the player needs to build a food factory and provide it with then necessary resource, Crops. The crops can be imported from the customs house, but in a self-sustaining republic, the player produces the crops himself. Crops grow on fields and are harvested, fertilized, stored in a grain silo and transported to the food factory.

The produced food needs to be distributed to Grocery stores and Shopping centres and sold to citizens. Another option with food is to export it and thereby contribute to the self-sufficient republic.

Production

Food resource flow chart

For the production of food the player needs to provide resources like Crops to the factory. When Water management is enabled in the game settings also Water must be provided with a Water quality of 97% or higher. The factory also has manual jobs, so workers are also needed for producing explosives.

Depending on the Game settings the player needs to take care of provisioning water for workers and taking care of wastewater and/or maintenance.

Storage

There are two raw resource flows through the factory. One for the import of raw materials and one for the export of manufactured goods. The internal storages capacity of the factory, for the raw materials and produced goods, is limited. The storage capacity can be increased by adding external storages for the storage of Food in warehouse buildings. The external storages are connected via Factory connections.

Transportation

The raw resources must be delivered at the food factory or at a connected external storage. The produced goods can be picked up from the factory or from an external storage. The transportation of Food must be carried out by using covered-hull trucks, trains using boxcars cargo wagons, or by forklifts.

Uses

Notes

  • When Water management is enabled water must be provided water to the factory and must be of a quality of 97% or higher.
