Oil is a production resource and usable to exportation in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.

Background

An oil is any nonpolar chemical substance that is composed primarily of hydrocarbons and is both hydrophobic (does not mix with water, literally "water fearing") and lipophilic (mixes with other oils, literally "fat loving"). Oils are usually flammable and surface active. Most oils are unsaturated lipids that are liquid at room temperature.

Gameplay

Oil is a primary resource, produced by Pumpjacks. Unlike Mines, Pumpjacks don't require workers to operate them, meaning a basic Oil export setup can be running continuously. Oil is treated as a fluid, and is carried in pipelines and cistern trucks or rail cars. It can be refined into fuel and bitumen at an oil Refinery.

Oil can easily become the most profitable industry in the game. In raw form, it typically sells for 45-57 rubles per ton; fuel and bitumen both typically sell for over a 100 rubles per ton. In the basic Europe map, it is often found with large quantities near rivers or villages, and oil fields near rivers or villages tend to be near the eastern border, making it quick and easy to sell using a simple train line.

Oil is pumped from the ground with help of a pumpjack. No workers are required to operate.

Storage

Oil may be stored in Oil/Fuel storage buildings.

Transportation

Oil can be transported by using oil tank trucks or by trains using tanker cargo wagons. Also pipes are a means of transportation.
