Aluminium oxide is a resource in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.

Background

Aluminium oxide is a chemical compound of aluminium and oxygen with the chemical formula Al2O3. It is the most commonly occurring of several aluminium oxides, and specifically identified as aluminium(III) oxide. It is commonly called alumina and may also be called aloxide, aloxite, or alundum depending on particular forms or applications. It occurs naturally in its crystalline polymorphic phase α-Al2O3 as the mineral corundum, varieties of which form the precious gemstones ruby and sapphire. Al2O3 is significant in its use to produce aluminium metal, as an abrasive owing to its hardness, and as a refractory material owing to its high melting point.

Gameplay

Aluminium oxide is a processed material of the aluminium production chain.

Production

Aluminium oxide resource flow chart

Aluminium oxide is produced in alumina plants. Alumina plants process bauxite and chemicals into aluminium oxide. At maximum efficiency and with 370 workers, alumina plants can process 77t of bauxite and 2.6t of chemicals to produce 33t of aluminium oxide per workday. It means conversion ratio bauxite:aluminium oxide is 2.33 : 1

Storage

Aluminium oxide may be stored in a dry-bulk storage.

Transportation

It can be transported by using dry-bulk tanks or by trains using hopper cargo wagons.

Uses

Aluminium oxide is used to production aluminium, a material required to produce aircraft. It can also be exported.
