The Radio station is a building in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic from which the player has influence on the happiness of citizens.

Background

Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (radio). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. Radio stations broadcast with several different types of modulation: AM radio stations transmit in AM (amplitude modulation), FM radio stations transmit in FM (frequency modulation), which are older analog audio standards, while newer digital radio stations transmit in several digital audio standards: DAB (digital audio broadcasting), HD radio, DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale). Television broadcasting is a separate service which also uses radio frequencies to broadcast television (video) signals.

Gameplay

The radio station offers in total 150 jobs for workers. The radio station broadcasts programs that cater to the player's need to influence the citizens. The player can bring broadcast programs to influence cultural enjoyment and/or Soviet propaganda. In total the player has six ways to influence citizens:

  • Cultural enjoyment - to influence culture.
  • Educational strength - to influence Education.
  • Soviet propaganda - to influence loyalty.
  • Preference for alcohol - to influence health.
  • Enthusiasm for sport - to influence sport.
  • Anti-religious propagande - to influence religion.

You configure each preference from the radio station by increasing or decreasing the corresponding percentage:

In the radio station are two type of workers: staff and actors/moderators, staff can be a worker with any kind of educational skill while actors/moderators must have a higher educational level

Influences

Placing a Radio station can have the following effects to the game depending on the settings of the Radio station:

  • An effect on the citizens cultural enjoyment preference.
  • An effect on the citizens Educational strength.
  • An effect on the citizens loyalty preference.
  • An effect on the citizens alcohol consumption to influence health.
  • An effect on enthusiasm for sport.
  • An effect on Anti-religious propagande to influence religion.

Notes

  • Do not start building this building too late in the game, because from the moment the game starts, the loyalty will decrease and monuments will no longer be sufficient.
