Beavers
Overview
Beavers are hardworking and honest, but also quite demanding. The are gifted at Woodworking and enjoy Engineering.
Their Starting Ability is to extend available trade offers by 1 in each neighboring town. Beavers has a base Resolve of 10, with a Break interval of 02:00 minutes. Their Resilience is listed as Low, and their Demand, along with Humans', is the highest at 30. With a Decadence level of 2 and a Hunger Tolerance of 6, Beavers are the hardest species to please, but also slowest to raise their expectations. Their Starting Ability, species-specific buildings and Housing Upgrades all encourage a trade-heavy playstyle.
Consumption and Satisfaction
Like all species, Beavers need to fulfill Complex Needs to start generating Reputation. The more Complex Needs you fulfill, the higher their Resolve will go, up to a maximum of 50. With the exception of the Housing Needs, every need fulfilled grants an additional effect, like Biscuits' increased double production chance.
Proficiency & Comfort
Beavers' Proficiency specialization is Woodworking. It grants Beavers a 10% chance to produce twice the amount of resources when working in the following buildings:
Beavers' Comfort specialization is Engineering. It grants Beavers 5 Resolve when working in the following buildings:
Beaver-specific buildings
These buildings appear as Reputation rewards only when Beavers are on the map. They can still spawn as Ruins.

Strategy
- Beavers are not a species a Viceroy should rely on for Resolve-based Reputation gain. Out of all species, Beavers need the most Resolve to start generating Reputation at +20 from base Resolve.
- Consider assigning a Beaver Firekeeper when you have more than 1 Hearth and want to save on fuel. This is especially effective if you have the Secret Techniques of the Firekeeper Perk.
- Beaver Housing is prohibitively expensive at Prestige 6+. Combined with Beavers' low Reputation generation potential and higher than average base Resolve, there is little reason to build their species Housing.
- Woodworking Proficiency in the Woodcutters' Camp has minimal impact on Wood output. In a low Wood biome like Marshlands, a Beaver woodcutter will bring in an average of ~34 Wood over the course of a 12-minute year compared to ~31 Wood for other species.
Trivia
- There is a Beaver Trader named Old Farluf.
- Beavers have two skins, bearded and beardless, they also have two voice pitches, high and low.
- At 5 blueprints, Beavers have the fewest Proficiency bonuses of all species.
- Beavers were one of the three initial species available in Against the Storm.
- Beavers are immortalized into Plushies that Eremite Games once sold and occasionally give away in events.
