Reaper
The horrifying Reaper is a monstrous bioweapon capable of rapidly reproducing on the battlefield by lethally injecting humans with its offspring. Reapers can quickly turn any mission into a disaster by converting the local civilian population and any clumsy or unlucky xenonauts into more of itself, creating an exponentially increasing threat where great care must be taken to avoid being overwhelmed, as any blind spot or corner could have a reaper hiding and waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting soldier.

Reapers should never be underestimated due to their ability to easily multiply, especially in missions with a large number of defenseless civilians. However their relatively low health makes them easy prey for your soldiers' fire when out in the open, and they have a tendency to run up right into the faces of your soldiers but run out of time units before they can attack, being easily killed by reaction shots or by close range attacks at the start of your turn. Reapers are at their strongest when waiting in ambush within cramped locations and are smart enough to hide just out of your soldiers view until striking, making them a force to be reckoned with on nighttime missions.
Reapers can appear in UFO crash site missions and terror missions accompanying mantids.

Trivia
- Reapers are almost identical to the infamous Chryssalids from the original X-COM: UFO Defense, having a similar appearance and similar mechanic of zombifying soldiers with melee attacks to multiply on the battlefield.
- While the reapers of Xenonauts 2 share the name and general mechanics of the reapers from the first Xenonauts game, the visuals have been changed, omitting the multiple arms and more humanoid face of the original design.
