Background

Forklifts have emerged as indispensable tools in various industries, streamlining material handling operations and improving productivity. These powerful machines, designed to lift and transport heavy loads with ease, have revolutionized the way goods are moved within warehouses, construction sites, and logistics centers.

Forklifts have the ability to handle heavy loads efficiently saves time, reduces labor costs, and minimizes the risk of injuries associated with manual handling. Forklifts also enhance storage capacity by allowing for vertical stacking of goods, optimizing warehouse space. Furthermore, they enable rapid loading and unloading of trucks and containers, facilitating smooth supply chain operations.

Gameplay

General

In Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic the player can make use of forklifts. These forklifts do not drive on regular roads but they have their own kind of road. These roads can be selected by the player in the build menu named 'General cargo' -> 'Build factory connection'. This type of road can only be built between buildings with a factory connection and when both buildings are placed in the world.

To build a factory connection the player selects the correct tool in the build menu, selects the first building factory connection and connects to the second building factory connection. The length for factory connections between buildings is limited, but this length can be extended with help of a Factory connection crossing. In this setup a Forklift garage is mandatory.

In the Forklift garage the forklifts park when they don't have to transport resources and they go over there to refuel. The forklift garage is connected to the regular road network and via this connection Fuel is delivered and is used for constructing the Forklift infrastructure.

When connecting two buildings over a short distance with a factory connection, no forklifts are necessary. Resources will flow from one building to the other.

Factory connection

Factory connections can be used by the player between Storages/Warehouses and factories. Via these connections resources can flow between buildings, but not between every building. Storages/Warehouses are passive buildings and do not actively push or pull resources. Factories, Cargo stations, Forklift garage are active stations and able to push/pull resources.

Factory connections are bi-directional meaning that resources can flow from building A to building B but also the other way round from building B to Building A. This behavior can be changed by the player to a one way flow direction, only from building A to building B or building B to building A[1].

Examples

This setup will not work:
Factory A Tool factoryconnection.png - Storage A Tool factoryconnection.png - Storage B Tool factoryconnection.png - Factory B Tool factoryconnection.png
Factory A will push resources to Storage A, but it will not push the resources further to Storage B.
Factory B can pull from Storage B, but it will be empty because Storage A can't push a resource.

This setup will work:
Factory A Tool factoryconnection.png - Storage A Tool factoryconnection.png - Factory B Tool factoryconnection.png
Factory A will push resources to Storage A, Factory B can pull from Storage A. If vehicles come to a station or building, the vehicle can pull resources from neighboring building or pull to neighboring buildings.

Factory A Tool factoryconnection.png - Cargo station Tool factoryconnection.png - Factory B Tool factoryconnection.png - Factory C Tool factoryconnection.png
In above setup when a vehicle comes for loading/unloading at the Cargo station, the vehicle can also load/unload resources from/to Factory A and/or Factory B, but not from Factory C.

  • Factory connections can only be build between two buildings and only after the buildings have been placed by the player
  • Forklifts can only be refueled at the Forklift garage
  • Factory connections have limited length, but can be extended with a Factory connection crossing and mandatory Forklift garage.
