Some complex buildings and resource production requires at least one of the lords to have the prerequisite knowledge. Lords gain knowledge by reading books, which are obtained from the Holy Caravan and housed in the Library. In the Knowledge menu lords can be assigned to study and write books. The higher the Intellect skill of the lord reading it, the faster it gains its knowledge. After studying a book, the lord will be able to create a copy of it using Paper. Once assigned to read, lords will do that all day unless they are satisfying a need. Other daily assignments will be completed first before resuming reading. Reading also decreases Rest.

Building knowledge

Knowledge about buildings comes in 3 levels:

  • The first knowledge unlocks the building for construction and allows it to be upgraded up to level 3 has various unlock requirements.
  • The second knowledge allows the building to be upgraded up to level 5 and requires the building to reach level 3.
  • The third knowledge improves the building's efficiency and requires the building to reach level 5.
