Important: Information is subject to change during development
Ti-82 was a material found and mined on Pluto that could withstand enormous strain, pressure and temperatures. The discovery of this material allowed construction of ships and stations that were far superior to previous models. Ti-82 is used as a bonding agent to strengthen alloys. This material allowed ships to be able to withstand FTL travel making it an important resource.
Discovery
The new resource was discovered during the excavation and establishment of Drake colony. Due to new techniques of analyzation it was found that planets furthest away from the center of the system had large quantities of Ti-82 deposits. The only planets that did not have deposits were Earth and Luna.
Reaction from Earth
Due to the discovery of this new material Earth placed sanctions on the outer colonies creating an unstable political situation which ultimately ended with the formation of the Colonial Expeditionary Pact (CEP) and the First Colonial War of 2238.
