This page shows map settings in custom games.


The Dunes

A small secluded area in some sand dunes that offers wide open space with a few raised areas.


Settings

You have access to a limited number of fish, seeds and sand fleas. You can find large rosemary plants and poppy plants across the map.

Woodland and beach enemies roam the surface. Woodlice, devil's coach horse beetles and beach tiger beetles live in your nest.

Towhead

A river island that offers the best resources in the middle but can periodically flood, wiping out resources and creatures alike.


Settings

Nests are located in the higher area. The lower central area can be periodically flooded.

You have access to a limited number of fish and sand fleas. You can find Magnolia saplings and poppy plants in the central area. Root aphids gather in the outer area.

Woodland and beach enemies roam the surface. Woodlice, devil's coach horse beetles and beach tiger beetles live in your nest.

Embankment

A stream divides this wide open rainforest area down the middle which can be perilous if it is crossed carelessly.


Settings

Nests are located equally on each side of the stream. The land bridges can be periodically flooded.

You have access to a limited number of seeds and pine cones. You can find magnolia saplings near the water's edge. Root aphids gather on the higher area.

Rainforest enemies roam the surface. Woodworms, green rove beetles, blue rove beetles, whip spiders and velvet worms live in your nest.


Minimaps


Basin

Allies share a joint starting area but will need to clash with enemy colonies in the lower grounds to get the best resources.


Settings

Nests are located equally each side of the basin. Ally colonies are always on the same side. Enemy colonies will always be separated by an indestructible barrier if they are on the same side.

You have access to a limited number of seeds and pine cones. You can find magnolia saplings in the central area.

Rainforest enemies roam the surface. Woodworms, green rove beetles, blue rove beetles, whip spiders and velvet worms live in your nest. You can encounter a huge whip spider in the central area.

Sand Spit

A sandy peninsula designed for a 3 vs 1 setup, where the single colony has an uphill battle ahead of them.


Settings

A single nest is located on the further side of the peninsula. Ally colonies are located on the same side. Enemy colonies will be separated by an indestructible barrier if they are located on the same side.

You have access to a limited but massive number of fish, seeds and sand fleas. You can find poppy plants and magnolia saplings across the map.

Woodland and beach enemies roam the surface. Devil's coach horse beetles live in your nest.

Imprisoned

A swampy area that floods and drains opening up easir access to other resources and colonies.


Settings

Nests are disconnected by a water trench during flood period. Connecting paths, which are gradually revealed during drain period, are conveniently blocked by carnivorous plants.

You have access to a limited number of seeds and pine cones. Magnolia saplings grow sparsely across the map.

Swamp enemies roam the surface. Narrow-mouthed toads, larval false bombardier beetles and larval checkered beetles inhabit in your nest. You can encounter 2 great blue skimmers flying across the map.

Strawclutch

Tightly packed nests around central resurces in the swamp ensures intense skirmishes with neighbors.


Settings

Nests can be located either on the 1st or the 2nd layer of the hill.

You have access to a limited number of seeds and pine cones. Milkweed plants grow densely in the center of map while magnolia saplings and Venus flytraps grow sparsely in the outer area.

Swamp enemies roam the surface. False bombardier beetles and larval checkered beetles inhabit in your nest. You can encounter 2 American bullfrogs on the edge of the map.

Cuztomizations

Randomization

Each map has a default design for both the surface and the underground area. Your nest is randomly assigned to an underground area at the start of a custom game.

Landmarks and underground enemies will be generated based on your choices if randomization is enabled.

Underground caverns will be randomly generated if cavern randomization is enabled. Food amount and danger amount can be toggled in a preset range abeit danger amount can't be set higher than food amount.

Leaves and lignocellulose replace other underground food when you play as leafcutter ants and termites respectively.


Flood

Short flood is exclusive to Towhead and Embankment. Water rises for 5 seconds then quickly recedes every 10 minutes, washing away both dead and alive creatures.

Long flood is currently exclusive to Imprisoned. Water level changes every 7 minutes, washing away both dead and alive creatures. Amphibians can swim when it floods.

Overall score increases by 40% if floods are enabled.


Destructible barriers

Destructible barriers are exclusive to Basin. They block certain areas of the map and have 4000 HP. You can attack the barriers to break them. Overall score increases by 40% if destructible barriers are enabled.


Period of the day

Day and night last for 15 minutes each. You can choose to start a freeplay game during any period of the day.

  • Imprisoned, based on the design of 鶴轟, and Strawclutch, based on the design of Noctazar, were the winners of the map making contest in 2023.
  • The old fish model can be seen floating on the edge of Towhead.
