The counterpart colony is a gene-thief ant colony that appears in the story mode as a rival to the primary colony.
Descriptions
The counterpart colony utilizes different ant species from the primary colony, all of which are melee units. Its color is canonically blue.
The counterpart colony has access to slave-maker ant soldiers, trap-jaw ant soldiers, army ant mediae and army ant majors. It also has the following adaptations: Second wind and Royal guard, Aggressive brood and Defensive.
You can play as the counterpart colony in custom games by beating The Other Foot on any difficulty. Workers don't have the previously mentioned adaptations.
History
The scientists had obtained the counterpart colony during their research on gene-splicing and the polymorphism of gene-thief ants. This colony was implied to be one of the rare healthy specimens.
This colony must send its workers to take part in formicarium challenges of another colony. During the inbetween time, the male scientist sent some of the most gruesome creatures in the game to continuously attack the colony for both the research and his own amusement.
The counterpart colony managed to thrive likely due to the impressive selection of strong melee units that it had gained over the course of the project. It had grown into a massive colony with 259 ants by the time you actually met it properly in the third experiment. Ultimately, the colony was destroyed in the final showdown with the death of its queen.
Trivia
- The counterpart colony will be red if the primary colony is blue.
- The events of The Other Foot are deemed non-canonical by the developes. Its continuation has been deconfirmed.
