Primary Colony

The primary colony is a gene-thief ant colony that appears in the story mode as the protagonist.

Descriptions

The primary colony utilizes different species of ants, which fulfill specific roles on battlefield. Its color is canonically red.

You only have access to level 1 gene-thief ant workers at the start of the story. You can spend Royal Jelly to unlock new units and adaptations. The primary colony should have access to black ant soldiers, wood ant shooters, leafcutter ant majors, fire ant soldiers and Matabele ant medics before the end of the story.

It also has access to wood ant soldiers, leafcutter ant mediae, Matabele ant soldiers, termite minor soldiers, termite major soldiers and bullet ant soldiers after you have beaten the story. You can bring these new units and their minor improvements into new game plus.

You can encounter the primary colony in another timeline in The Other Foot. It has access to black ant soldiers, mortar wood ant shooters and stun leafcutter ant majors. The queen has Royal decree, mortar shooters have Corrosive and stun majors have Sharp.

History

The scientists had obtained the primary colony during their research on gene-splicing and the polymorphism of gene-thief ants. This colony was implied to be one of the rare healthy specimens. It had to survive gruesome experiments created by the male scientist for both research and his amusement.

This colony had to fight sustained flows of ants from multiple directions and many dangerous creatures at once during the first and the second experiment. The experiments were on hold temporarily afterward.

The third experiment was meant to be the last test for this colony. The male scientist moved the queen to a new formicarium in preparation for the battle against te counterpart colony. The colonies ultimately clashes and thanks to the well-rounded selection of units, the primary colony triumphed. The male scientist was ordered to dispose of the colony.

The male scientist hid the primary colony in a moss-growing terrarium. He created a bunch of hybrids on the whim using Royal Jelly and made the primary colony fight against them as soon as the female scientist was absent. The colony easily out-maneuvered the clumsy beasts. The male scientist quickly hid the terrarium in a cupboard afterward.

The male scientists was escorted outside, leaving the colony scavenging for every last bit of food. He secretly broke into the lab through a vent and infrequently resupplied the colony.

Finally, on a fateful day, the male scientist returned with his homemade equipments. He put the colony through the real final experiment against acid, laser, electric and fire. The primary colony ultimately gained immunity and benefitial effects from the testing equipments.

The male scientist made a concoction from Royal Jelly and living ants and drank it. He transformed into a human-ant hybrid, became one with the colony and protected it from invading lab creatures. He let the primary colony mount him and broke out of the lab, with the intention to release it to the wild. Their fate remained unknown at the end of the story.
