Czechoslovakia or the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic was a state in Central Europe that existed between 1918 and 1993. In early 1948, Communists officially seized power, and in 1960, the country officially became the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. In 1989, the Velvet Revolution occurred, and Democracy was reinstated in the country, and in 1993, the country split into the independent states of Czechia and Slovakia.
