Difficulty

When starting a new campaign you will first have to pick your game difficulty. The difficulty can be changed at any point in the options menu. Sons of Valhalla offers the following difficulty levels:

Difficulty Modifications Description
Easy Runes do not have to be sacrificed
100% more resource generation
50% less enemy damage
50% less health points for enemies
You are a pretty inexperienced warrior, and you're always trying to avoid confrontation. Your combat skills are limited. You don't like urban development either, as you prefer to let others build houses. You're hoping that the gods will have mercy on you during your journey. Just believe that as long as you honor Odin, he will protect you!
Normal No modifications You are a good fighter. That's it. You already have built houses, maybe even entire cities. You don't rely on luck or mercy of your gods. You are the architect of your own fortune - so dare to step into this adventure and grow into an experienced warrior!
Hard 50% more enemy damage
50% more health points for enemies
You are an experienced fighter and an expert in city building. You've already been on a few raids and you've gained a lot of experience in battles. You are constantly looking for new challenges to impress the gods. Go and master your journey with courage and perspicacity, and your name will be known for all time.
Hel 100% more enemy damage
50% more health points for enemies
You are a very skilled warrior and builder. You have witnessed numerous raids and built a number of cities. There are no more challenges for you to conquer. You want the approval of the gods so badly that it has driven you mad, and you tend to take on more and more risks during your journey. Be careful that your high spirits don't get you into trouble!

Gameplay basics

To restore health you need to eat. To restore stamina you need to drink.

There are two types of attacks. Standard attacks do not require Stamina. Power attacks deal more damage but require Stamina.

When blocking use the mouse cursor to change the direction of the shield. The shield must be in the way of an attack to block it.

City

The first building of any city is the Mead Hall. At it you can upgrade your fighting abilities and some of your equipment for Silver.png Hack Silver and Gold.png Gold Coins. You can also upgrade the mead hall to expand your city and get more building sites.

To the right of the Mead Hall is the Supply Warehouse, where you can restock your equipment.
