The boss fight against Valgard

At the end of each land there will be a boss fight. Thorald will fight the boss alone, without any units. Each boss fight has three phases, progressing to the next phase after the boss loses a third of its health.

Valgard

Valgard

Phase 1: Valgard will begin the phase with a whirlwind attack. After the attack he will be exhausted for a few moments, leaving him defenseless. Afterwards he alternates between two light or one heavy attack. More rarely he will use a lunge attack. If enough time passes he will repeat the whirlwind attack. All his attacks can be blocked.

Phase 2: Valgard will begin the phase with another whirlwind attack, unless he did it shortly before the previous phase ended. He will also have a new attack where he throws his axe at you. This attack cannot be blocked.

Phase 3: Valgard will replace the whirlwind attack with one where he retreats to one of the sides and throws three barrels at you.

Bishop Elmold

Bishop Elmold

Phase 1: Bishop Elmold will begin the phase with a flail spinning attack. Afterwards he alternates between two light or two medium attacks. If there is enough distance between him and Thorald he will use the flail spinning attack again. All his attacks can be blocked.

Phase 2: Bishop Elmold loses the light and spinning attacks and gains a new heavy attack that will leave him vulnerable for a few moments. If he gets near the benches on the sides of the map he will pick them up and attack three times before the bench breaks. All his attacks can be blocked but will consume more Stamina than dodging.

Phase 3: Bishop Elmold's aide will occasionally cause one of the three chandeliers on the map to fall. A red circle will appear where they will fall but which one falls will be random. Bishop Elmold gains a new charge attack and a rug pulling attack, both of which require distance between him and Thorald. The chandelier and the rug attacks cannot be blocked. Bishop Elmold can no longer pick up the remaining benches.

Bloodhound

Bloodhound

Phase 1: Bloodhound uses a single basic attack. If you try to use a heavy attack or block too much he will dodge behind you. He will sometimes try to dodge light attacks too.

Phase 2: Bloodhound releases one of his hounds, which you have to defeat to continue fighting him. The hound has a bite attack and a lunge attack it will use if you put enough distance between you. Bloodhound fights the same as in the previous phase.

Phase 3: You have to defeat another hound, identical to the one from the previous phase. Bloodhound gains a new medium range attack he will telegraph a few moments before using. The attack does heavy damage but does not cost more Stamina than regular attacks to block.

Sir William

Sir William

Phase 1: Sir William will begin the phase with a gallop attack. Afterwards he will only use light attacks. If enough time passes and he has enough space he will do the gallop attack again. The gallop attack may or may not be unblockable depending on distance.

Phase 2: Sir William uses a single basic attack. The attack requires a lot of Stamina to block. Sir William will try to parry light attacks. If you use a heavy attack he will parry the first strike but not the second. Sir William will move very slowly and can be easily attacked with ranged weapons. He can restore some health once.

Phase 2: Sir William gains a double attack he will sometimes use. Aside from this the phase plays like the previous one.

Loki

Loki

Phase 1: Loki uses a single ranged attack. The attack can be blocked regardless of shield position but will consume a lot of Stamina so it is recommended to dodge only. If he takes some damage he will either dodge, teleport to one of the ends of the map, or do a very powerful area attack. The area attack can be blocked but requires fast reflexes.

Phase 2: Loki becomes far better at dodging attacks. Aside from this the phase plays like the previous one.

Phase 3: Loki becomes more likely to use the area attack. Aside from this the phase plays like the previous one.

Hel

Hel

Unlike other bosses Hel has a single phase. She uses mostly heavy attacks. Occasionally she will summon 16 orbs and shoot them in a circle around her. She will do this either on the ground or fly above the battlefield before launching the attack. If she does it on the ground she should not be attacked as the orbs will still do damage while circling her. The heavy attacks can be blocked regardless of shield position but will consume a lot of Stamina so it is recommended to dodge only. The orb attacks can be blocked without losing Stamina. While she is flying she can still be attacked with ranged weapons.
