This page shows the mechanics of enemy mounting and notable targets.

Enemy mounting

Only brood-originated ants can mount large creatures in combat. The number of mounting ants on each creature is unaffected by their size. Ants themselves can't be mounted.

Only a certain percentage of fighting ants can mount a large creature. If ants on the ground are dead or prevented from attacking, mounting ants will dismount until the required percentage is met.

You can disable attacking or enemy mounting to prevent your ants from mounting or make them dismount.

Mounting ants can only use basic attack and can't use any abilities, except for fire ants. They are affected by damage reflection.

Large creatures will take more damage if there are enough mounting ants on them. The specific calculation hasn't been revealed.

Mounting ants will be dead when mounted creatures leave the map.

Termites are counted as ants in the game and share the same mounting mechanics.

Mountable enemies

Large ants can only mount huge enemies. They include leafcutter ant mediae, leafcutter ant majors, matabele ant soldiers, army ant majors and termite major soldiers.

Small ants can mount both large and huge enemies. They include other ants and termites.

Bullet ant soldiers and super leafcutter ant major can't mount enemies.
