Abilities
Phorid flies rest on harvestable plants. Infested locations are represented by fly symbols on the minimap.
Phorid flies will attempt to lay eggs inside nearby ants. Infected ants move and attack 50% more slowly. They become dead after 2 minutes without losing any health. Phorid flies can only infect leafcutter ants.
Ants have 0% chance to fend off phorid flies when they are carrying anything and 30% chance when they don't. Level 3 soldiers have 100% chance to fend off phorid flies, even if they are carrying leaves.
Successful defense will cause the flies to leave the area permanently. Each ant can only chase away a fly every 2 minutes. Ants can still remove phorid flies even if you disable attacking.
The mechanics are also applied to termite units in custom colonies.
