Background

The EDK series of railway cranes was considered one of the best not only in the USSR, but also in the world, in the second half of the 20th century. These machines were produced by the TAKRAF plant, which included about 50 heavy industry enterprises. Cranes manufactured by this concern were considered one of the best not only in the Warsaw Pact countries, but also in Western Europe.

All cranes of the EDK series are diesel-electric, respectively, have a diesel engine and a generator, which generates the energy necessary for the operation of the crane.
