Oil Logistics
The oil logistical system describes the process by which Oil is turned into Fuel and Bitumen. The following explanations make reference to Fig. 1 on the right.
In the picture, Oil is produced by Pumpjacks on the left (these are circled in red). The Oil is pumped by Pumping Stations (green circles) into an Oil/Fuel Storage Tank (blue circle) which in turn has a Pumping Station (green circle again) sending the raw Oil into the Oil Refinery (orange circle) for processing into Fuel and Bitumen.
After being turned into Fuel and Bitumen, the resultant products are transferred by two Pumping Stations (green circles) into a pair of Oil/Fuel Storage Tanks. Players should note that in Workers and Resources, liquid products cannot be stored together, meaning each liquid resource produced by the player will require its own storage. Since the Oil Refinery outputs Fuel and Bitumen, two Oil/Fuel Storage Tanks are required to store these products.
From the two Oil/Fuel Storage Tanks on the right, a pump is used to transfer the contents of each Tank into an Oil/Fuel Loading and Unloading Station for export by rail (yellow rectangle).
The amount of Pumping Stations shown are required because Oil Refineries and Storage Tanks don't produce any pumping power on their own. This means, that without Pumping Stations, the transfer rate between these buildings will be very slow, likely leading to a bottleneck at the Oil/Fuel Loading and Unloading Station.
