Container
Background
Cargo containers play a pivotal role in global trade, facilitating the transportation of goods across vast distances. These standardized steel boxes come in various sizes, with the most common being the 20-foot and 40-foot containers. They are designed to withstand the rigors of maritime, rail, and road transportation, ensuring the safety and security of their contents.
Cargo containers are constructed to meet strict industry standards, ensuring uniformity in dimensions and structural integrity. They provide efficient storage, stacking, and handling capabilities, enabling seamless transfers between different modes of transportation. Equipped with sturdy doors and weatherproof seals, containers protect goods from the elements during transit, enhancing their reliability.
While containers differ in capacity, they generally have a maximum weight limit of around 30 tons. They are often stacked on ships and transported in groups, forming the basis of the intermodal shipping system. Containerization has revolutionized global trade, enabling efficient loading, tracking, and unloading of cargo, and has become an indispensable part of the modern logistics landscape.
Gameplay
General
Transporting resources is a key element in the game Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. Resources can be transported with different kind of road vehicles and over longer distances with trains, ships and airplanes are more suitable. The resources to transport is delivered to a appropriate unloading station and commonly stored in a warehouse before it's loaded for further transport. Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic provides another way of packing and distributing resources, containers.
If the player wants to make use of transportation with containers the player needs to build the Container loading facility. Resources are delivered to the Container loading facility where they can be stored in the limited internal storage. Workers will pack the resources into containers and the packed containers are parked at the storage area. The containers can be picked up from there and transported to a Customs house where the goods are exported across the border.
The player can also decide to take the packed container to a Container unloading facility. This facility unpacks resources from the container and stores the resources in the internal storage of the Container unloading facility or to an optional connected external warehouse.
There are several kind of containers each with a different capacity and configurable from the Container loading facility properties window.
358 10' containers can be stored at the Container loading facility, after that the storage capacity can be extended with an external storage. If the player would like to extend the storage capacity the player needs to build connect and the Space for vehicles/containers.
