Interaction with Other Factions
Factions with Similar Ideology
The Academy shares some similarities with The Protectorate. Both want to work with the aliens in some capacity while preserving human autonomy. The important difference between The Academy and The Protectorate is that The Academy seeks cooperation with the aliens on an equal footing, whereas The Protectorate believes that equality is untenable and a negotiated surrender is the only way. Furthermore, the appeasement efforts of The Protectorate would inevitably undermine The Academy's goal of convincing the aliens that humanity is worthy of being their equals.
Factions with Conflicting Ideology
The Academy is naturally opposed to Humanity First, a faction that seeks to wipe out the aliens along with the humans who work with them.
Although both The Academy and The Servants are broadly pro-alien factions, The Academy is not naturally allied with The Servants: The Academy is guided by scientific reason whereas The Servants are motivated by religious devotion. Further, The Servants are far more pro-alien than The Academy is.
