Chancellor Li Qingzhao was born in Shanghai, China. She is a scientist.
Li Qingzhao has a stellar academic record. She has a B.S. in Astronautical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Class of 1988; a M.S. and a PhD in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Class of 1994; and a PhD in Public Management from Tsinghua University, Class of 1999.
From 2000-present, Li Qingzhao is a Professor of Science and Technology Policy and Management at Xi'an Jiaotong University. She is also a Director of the C9 League from 2014 through 2017.
She is an outspoken advocate for the construction of the Tianyan radio telescope array and its SETI mission.
