The family is the basic unit of population management in Manor Lords. Families are groups of 1-3 people that can be assigned to work at buildings.
All members of the family will contribute to work. All workplace limits are quoted in size of families. The "People" tab of a workplace or building will show a list of families and the names of the family members, which can be renamed. Specific families can be manually reassigned to other jobs using this tab.
Families can also run a stall in the marketplace. They will distribute resources related to their current job. This includes families that work at storage buildings. The three categories of marketplace stall are food, clothing, and fuel.
Families also occupy space in burgage plots, using up 1 living space each. Families can level up if their burgage plot is upgraded. Subject to approval, new families will only move in if there is housing space available; if they do not have a house (at the start of the game, or due to demolition or loss of houses), they will decrease approval until they are suitably accomodated. According to the Special:MyLanguage/FAQ >75% or higher approval, multiple families can move in per month.
Members of the family can become ill and unable to work. Their recovery can be assisted by using the herb resource. Herbs can be obtained from an upgraded forager hut.
