In Falling frontier logistics is an integral part of gameplay.

Stations

There are 5 (known) logistical stations:

  1. Space Port
  2. Supply depot
  3. Refinery
  4. Orbital Refueling Station
  5. Way Station

Space Ports are hubs for planets and moons, they are the starting station that the player gets. Space ports are where planetary resources, such as population, can be transferred to space. The station can also receive resources from mining and cargo ships. Space ports contain 3 probes to be able to scout the nearby area. The station can be upgraded through research bettering recon and sensor aspects.

Supply depot are stations that store resources. They can be constructed in deep space allowing worlds that are a great distance apart to be connected. Mining and supply ships can unload resources at supply depots.

Orbital refueling stations refuel ships that are in orbit of a friendly planet. They require fuel to be brought to them.

Way Station

Way Stations are outposts that can resupply and repair ships that are far away from the players main stations. They require resources to be brought to them. Actions presented on the in-game menu when a ship is docked to it include: "Change Crew", "Change Armament", "Rearm", "Repair", and "Undock".

Refineries perform a multiplication of resources increasing the amount of resources mined. Currently known resources that can be deposited in a refinery are fuel and ore. The exact number that a refinery creates is to be announced. Once the resource has been multiplied it must be transported to a Space Port or Supply depot so that the resource can be used.

All stations can be destroyed by the enemy depriving the player of a vital transport or storage hub and affecting the war effort. Space Ports can deorbit due to deep core mining the planet where it orbits.

Supply orders

Supply orders are made between the stations. Once an order is made the station will generate a supply ship with the specified resource and transfer it between stations. Its path is automatically generated and not player controlled. There can only be 3 supply orders per station. The only resource that needs manual work orders is population.

Supply and Cargo ships

Cargo ship resupplying a station

Each station has a three cargo ships that belong to said station. There is no need to use resources to construct these ships. Cargo ships jump between stations, which requires fuel for FTL travel. Once a cargo ship arrives at its destination it will despawn and transfer its resources. They can be destroyed, crippling vital trade and supply lines. Destroyed ships will lose the resources they were carrying.

Supply ships are player controlled ships dedicated to resupplying fleets that are away from allied territory. They can carry food, munitions and supplies. There are specific refueling ships such as the Titan class refueling ship. These ships must be constructed, which takes up resources. They can be destroyed, denying the fleet of vital resources needed to keep it functional. Once a supply ship is destroyed it will lose all the resources it was carrying.
