This page shows mechanics about difficulty settings and objectives in story mode and arcade mode.
Difficulty
Levels can be played on either easy, medium, hard, extreme or impossible. Few levels only have a single set difficulty. Medium is the recommended choice for first-time playing.
Some elements in a level may change on high difficulty.
- Resources are less abundant.
- Objectives are more difficult to complete.
- Swarm enemies appear in larger number. Larger variants and adults become more common and appear sooner.
- Preparing period and interval of attacking waves is shorter.
- Titans are have higher size and health.
- AI colonies are more aggressive, have greater maximum population and cheat more frequently.
Enemies have halved health and give doubled food amount on easy. Unique enemies may appear on impossible in some missions .
You can't save in the middle of any levels.
Objectives
You must complete all available objectives to beat a level, sometimes in a specific order.
Active enemies refer to revealed enemies in the underground area. Nearby enemies refer to all underground enemies if no specific number is mentioned.
You only need to keep the queen alive until the time limit if the objective is surviving a certain amount of time. You must eliminate all active wave enemies if the objective is surviving attacking waves.
Enemies can be eliminated by different methods. You sometimes don't need to do it yourself and can rely on mutual enemies or environmental hazards.
The game will keep track of the original resources if the objectives require gathering from specific resources. Gathering your own refunds or enemy leftovers usually doesn't count.
Achievements
You can earn achievements by completing certain requirements before beating the respective level on the designated or higher difficulty. Only story levels and holiday levels have achievements.
Achievements only exist to make levels harder and give you more reasons to replay. They don't affect rewards or story progression. You can enable achievement tracking to know if you meet or fail any requirements during a level.
